Fishing on the Cass River has exploded since the introduction of the fish passage. It has brought historically significant spawning grounds back to life, turning the river into a family fun fishery. Rock bass, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, blue gills, pumpkin seed sun fish, northern pike and catfish, are all very common on the river. Sturgeon and walleye are recovering species. With the introduction of the new fish passage, walleye are now returning to their native spawning grounds up river.
